The “Fundamental Building Maintenance” micro-credential module is developed from the Building Maintenance 1 (BST257) course to introduce learners to the fundamental principles, terminology, and practices of maintenance management in the built environment industry. The module covers maintenance concepts based on British Standards Institution BS 3811 terminology, including planned, unplanned, preventive, corrective, schedule-based, condition-based, repair, overhaul, and replacement maintenance.Designed as a flexible and self-paced learning experience, the module integrates bite-sized microlearning content, interactive activities, and scenario-based learning to enhance students’ understanding and engagement.
