About this Course

Course Description

Dynamics is a subdivision of mechanics of bodies and deals with bodies in motion. Topic covered includes kinematics and kinetics of particles and rigid bodies, Newton’ Second Law, force-momentum formulation for systems of particles and rigid bodies in planar motion. Work-energy concepts and vibration.

Course Learning Outcomes

1 ) Evaluate engineering problems using basic principle of dynamics in a systematic and logical manner.
2 ) Apply the principles of mechanics in solving engineering problems.

Rectilinear motion of particles, Curvilinear motion of particles

Newton's Law of motion, Linear momentum, angular momentum, energy and momentum methods

Translation, rotation of a rigid body about a fixed axis, general plane motion

Newton's second law, Equations of motion for a rigid body, angular momentum of a rigid body in plane motion, D'Alembert Principle

Work energy method and Impulse Moment, Principle of work and energy, conservation of energy, Principle of impulse and momentum, conservation of angular momentum

Simple hormonic motion, simple pendulum, free vibrations of rigid bodies, conservation of energy
