About this Course

This course reinforces concepts introduced in fundamental fluid mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, and water quality. Students are required to conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data and prepare laboratory reports.

Fluid Mechanics
i) Measurement of fluid properties.
ii) Determination of the center of pressure.
iii) Determination of metacentric height.
iv) Application of Bernoulli Equation.

Hydraulics
i) Determination of head loss in pipes due to friction, fittings, sudden expansion, and contraction.
ii) Determination of hydraulic parameters in uniform flow for open channels.
iii) Measurement of flow over broad crested/sharp-crested weir.
iv) Determination of turbine performance and measurement of pump efficiency, head, and discharge.

Hydrology
i) Measurement of hydrological components.

Water Quality
i) Measurement of physical parameters of water.
ii) Measurement of chemical parameters of water.
