About this Course
Course Description
This course focuses on the care of persons of various age groups with psychiatric mental health disorders, chemical dependence and older clients. Psychopathology of mental disorders is reviewed. Application of the nursing process within a multidisciplinary team approach is highlighted. Communication skills, mental health assessment, and various therapeutic interventions are utilized by students in clinical placements.
Course Learning Outcomes
1 ) Demonstrate autonomous learning through nursing care plan based on current information and disease trends in elderly clients and clients with various mental disorders
2 ) Evaluate the management of elderly clients and clients with various mental disorders in clinical and community setting.
3 ) Discuss the fundamental principles and concepts of mental health and gerontological nursing.
