About this Course

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to integrate pharmaceutical care into community pharmacy settings. The student will be given an opportunity to refine their skills in patient care, health and wellness promotion, communication skills and knowledge needed to serve professionally in a competitive health care system.

1 ) Apply communication skills to the public in promoting healthcare
2 ) Explain the concept of pharmaceutical care in community pharmacy
3 ) Recommend relevant supplements and/or therapeutic intervention in treating symptoms seen in community pharmacy

Online pharmacy – prescribing & dispensing

Common nutrition and health supplements

Common herbal supplements, banned substances in supplements

Cough, common cold, rhinitis, sore throat

Dyspepsia, diarrhoea, constipation

Eczema, contact dermatitis, nappy rash, urticaria, acne vulgaris, seborrheic scalp conditions, sunburn, burns & scalds, bites& stings, warts & veruccas, psoriasis

Pain relief, teething, musculoskeletal pain, headache & migraine, travel/motion sickness

Threadworm, scabies, fungal infections, impetigo, herpes, childhood infection

Devices for hypertension, diabetes mellitus and asthma.
