About this Course
Course Description
This course is to provide the students with a broad introduction on the principles and techniques of scientific research to understand the overall research process. The focus is on developing the ability in identifying problems, formulating, and writing a problem statement together with the research questions and objectives to address the research problem related to the issues in the industry. The students should also be able to design the required experimental procedures and elaborate on data collection, analysis, and interpretation techniques to produce the expected results. Lastly, the students are required to write and present their research proposal.
Course Learning Outcomes
1 ) Display the ability to select suitable data analysis and interpretation techniques, tools and approaches for decision making and innovative industry-related solutions to generate useful information and conclusions.
2 ) Integrate personal skills for lifelong learning with a high level of independence and critical thinking that engages the capacity to propose new, innovative, and emerging solutions and technologies for industry-related problems.
3 ) Demonstrate the capability to identify appropriate data collection and investigation methods in designing the methodological framework for solving relevant industry-related problems.
4 ) Develop the ability to write problem statements, research objectives, literature review, research methods and expected outcomes related to the industry-related research topic systematically and independently.
5 ) Defend the suggested industry-related research topic using appropriate communication methods by presenting the research progress and complete proposal.
6 ) Analyse research problems using principles and techniques of scientific research and its process.
