About this Course
The course is designed to provide students with a valid and practical means of planning a destination to meet the collective needs of tourists, host communities, government, and other stakeholders. The preparation of development plans and the identification of potential products and resources are vital to the dynamic nature of tourism and the factors that influence its development. Thus, it will develop analytical thinking in order to evaluate tourism destinations according to current and future needs at the domestic and international levels.
Course Learning Outcomes
1) Examine the concepts, theories, and approaches to destination planning involving a multi-directional relationship that exists among the different natures of destinations and the consequences of development.
2) Explain ideas verbally related to tourism destinations at different levels of the Tourism Area Life Cycle (TALC) in Butler's (1980) model.
3) Display in the report the ethical and professional considerations involved in solving tourism project(s) related to tourism development.
