About this Course

This course exposes students to the discipline of Information Management (IM). Students are introduced to the breadth of IM, the various career pathways, and the representative competencies and skills expected of any IM graduate. Additionally, students are introduced to concepts and theories that explain or inspire procedures and practises in the generation and use of information within organisations. The concepts and theories will comprise a cycle of organisational activity, including the acquisition of information from one or more sources, the distribution of that information to those who require it, and its final disposal via archiving or deletion. This course also explains how information is utilised within organisations and how IT facilitates quality, timeliness, and competitive advantage enhancements.Teaching methodology involves dialogical teaching, face-to-face lectures, tutorials and blended learning. Student assessment includes group presentations, individual and group assignments, class test and final exam
