About this Course

This MOOC was developed for UiTM students enrolled in BMS533 Biorisk Management (previouslyMIC674 Biosafety and Biosecurity) course. The course covers the principles, practices, equipment and facilities for safe and secure handling of microbes especially pathogens and living modified microorganisms in a laboratory setting. Various components of laboratory biosafety and biosecurity and the concept of risks, hazards and methods for conducting biosafety and biosecurity risk assessment will be discussed. Global issues pertaining biosafety and biosecurity will also be highlighted. This MOOC allows students to participate in active self-learning through various interactive activities making biosafety and biosecurity class a more interesting and engaging course.
