About this Course

This course exposes students to the principles and concepts of adaptation. Students will be introduced to the various sources of ideas in adapting a story to a film. Issues such as fidelity and infidelity are also discussed. For the course, students are required to prepare a full proposal for a feature film consisting of a one-page outline and a step outline. The proposal is then later translated into a 60-minute screenplay. Students need to identify the basic principles of adaptation based on the case studies provided.
