About this Course

The purpose of this course is to provide educators with a basic knowledge of descriptive statistics, probability theory and to assist them in acquiring skills and techniques for using, understanding and solving problems in real life situations. It is designed to prepare prospective teachers to explain and teach statistics in institution of learning. Major areas to be covered include Events and Probability, Descriptive Statistics, Probability Distributions for Discrete and Continuous Random Variables. Students will be given an opportunity to exercise their acquired skills on the explanation of descriptive statistics and probability concepts through a project based on a topic agreed upon by the course instructor.
