About this Course

This course introduces the engineering profession and aspects related to it, and the systematic approach, basic principles and selective computational tools for solving and presenting engineering problems. The following topics will be covered; Engineering profession, Introduction to mechanical engineering design, Engineering solutions, Data acquisition and representation, Engineering approximations, and Dimension, units and unit conversions. Group work introduces students to working in a team to collectively undertake and complete the assigned tasks. The computational tools useful for solving engineering problems are covered in the practical sessions.
