This course facilitates students in learning and using types expressively so that it is both an image and a powerful message communicator. It begins with the basic elements of the typeface. Levels of complexity are gradually (variable type, weight, styles, sizes, color and other elements, including illustrations). Historical and contemporary examples of “page†designs (as in posters, flyers, advertisements, brochures, labels, etc) are analyzed according to their content, message, function, and audience. Students will make criticism about their formal qualities of composition, proportion,contrast, and color as they relate to the overall concepts of visual and semantic effectiveness. |

This course is designed for prospective art teachers who wish to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to implement effective and meaningful assessment practices in visual arts education. As assessment in visual arts education often involves abstract and creative constructs, this course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts and principles of assessment, and how they can be applied within the artistic context.
Through a combination of theoretical and practical learning experiences, students will learn how to define and evaluate creative constructs, develop criteria for assessment, and select appropriate assessment tools and frameworks. Students will also learn how to plan and implement assessments, develop scoring documents, and report on artistic development and achievement to relevant stakeholders.
Specific topics covered in this course may include authentic assessment, performance-based assessment, rubrics, portfolios, and self-assessment. By the end of the course, students will have gained a deep understanding of the role of assessment in visual arts education, and be equipped with the skills necessary to implement effective and meaningful assessment practices in their future classrooms. |

Introductory Medical Mandarin Communication Course is designed specifically for students or staffs of the Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences Bachelor’s Degree in University Technology MARA who have no background in Mandarin or any character-based language. This course can also be used by medical field students from other tertiary institutions and medical staff.
The students will be taught appropriate introductory level vocabulary and grammar. This course focuses on the rules of statute, common law and equity governing the ownership and use of real property, i.e. land and buildings. It deals primarily with situations involving private ownership of lands: the rights and duties thereby enjoyed and owed by a private owner over the land in his/her right and vis-a-vis his/her neighbours, and the methods where land may be transferred. The main objective of Criminal Law is to forbid and prevent conduct that unjustifiably and inexcusably inflicts or threatens substantial harm to individual or public interest. The external elements of an offence (known as the actus reus and mens rea) are also examined in greater detail. Offences of strict liability, vicarious and corporate liabilities are also included. Law of Conveyancing is the procedural aspect of land law where it covers the process of registration of land dealings on the Register Document of Title by the proprietor that creates indefeasible title or interest in land. The chain of conveyancing process begins with the pre requisite inquiry, preparation, execution and attestation, stamping and the final process is presentation for registration. If the property has yet to be issued with a separate issue document of title or strata title, the process will complete upon stamping and registration is done upon issuance of the same. It also covers matters incidental to land dealings such as creation of power of attorney and property gain tax. |

Land Law 2 consists of the substantive law on security documents. It also provides on easement and land administrator's right of way which is vital to assist land owners as to how access is granted to the registered proprietors. Besides that, it involves on the effect of registration that is used as a shield against all adverse inferences in ownership and interest in land. Finally, the course exposes students to a mechanism provided by the National Land Code 1965 protection accorded to unregistered owners or interested in land pending the registration process. This mechanism is known as a caveat. The caveat will also assist the Registrar in land authority to safeguard any interest against any impending fraud or debt due to the federal government such as the Inland Revenue Board. |

In this course students are introduced to selected prose, produced by contemporary writers from Asia. The selection of texts comprises of short stories. This course serves to illustrate the intricacies and subtleties inherent in world literature. Emphasis is placed on the skills necessary for input which involves accurate comprehension and interpretation of texts as well as output which involves organizing and articulating responses to demonstrate understanding of literary elements and human concerns/issues inherent in the selected texts. |

The course introduces students to theories, methods, material development and basic principles in the teaching of English as a Second Language. Discussions are geared towards the development of English Language Teaching methodology from the historical perspective of language teaching to the current approaches, focusing on listening, speaking and grammar. The course comprises of three main parts: 1) methodological perspectives and approaches in ESL; 2) materials for teaching listening, speaking and grammar; and 3) instruments for assessing listening, speaking and grammar. |
